The Lake Champlain Ecosystem Assessment is modeled after the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, providing a broad characterization of the structure, function, and values of ecosystem services in the Lake Champlain basin.  The basin is shared by the states of Vermont and New York in the United States, and province of Quebec in Canada, and provides the fundamental building blocks from which ecosystem functions emerge and are valued as services by the regional, national, and global economies.  These include the supporting, regulating, provisioning, and cultural services of the lake itself and the surrounding basin.
